OVERVIEW
How would you feel if you could spend 16 hours a month helping full-time police officers to make your community safer?
As a Special Constable you would share the same powers as a Police Officer. The difference is that you would be volunteering your services for free.
You can expect to grow significantly as a person as you acquire new skills and gain experiences that are completely unique to the role. The personal benefits in terms of self-development are unlimited. Special Constables (or 'Specials' for short) are special in many ways, not least for the new levels of confidence they discover.
This role of Special Constable is not to be confused with that of a PCSO - Police Community Support Officer, which is a paid role with a distinctly different focus and function.
