Police Officers Transferees/Re-joiners - Eligibility to Apply

Transferring Forces

You must:
Have completed you 2 year probationary period and be a confirmed officer (this includes completing your National Diploma in Policing or equivalent).

You must be currently working within a Force in England or Wales.

Bedfordshire Police does not accept transferees from the Royal Military Police or the British Transport Police unless your particular role is transferable with the proven skills and experience of the duties you would be expected to perform within Bedfordshire Police.

Re-joining as a Police Officer

You must:
Have been out of the Police Service for a minimum of 5 years or less (we are unable to accept re-joiner’s who have been out of the Police for over 5 year’s)

To re-join as a Police Officer, you must have completed your two years probationary period and be a confirmed officer.

If you are transferring or Re-joining every applicant will be expected to successfully complete the following, if you meet the above criteria:
  • Complete a Re-joiner Application Form
  • Interview
  • Force Security Checks
  • Previous Employment Checks
  • Medical
  • Fitness
